Hoi Lok Court is one of the housing estates under the Housing Authority of Hong Kong’s Home Ownership Scheme. It belongs to the same project as the neighboring Hai Ying Estate. The estate is located at 3 Lai Ying Street, Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong, close to Nanchang Station and Cheung Sha Wan Sub-Food Wholesale Market. The estate was designed by the Chief Architect (I) of the Housing Department and detailed by Parma Dana Architecture and Engineers Ltd Commission project). According to data from the Hong Kong Transport and Housing Bureau, the total market value of the estate is nearly HK$10 billion, making it the highest market value subsidized housing project since the restoration of Hong Kong in 2014
The estate features a children’s play area, badminton court, landscaped facilities, car park and open-air car parking. The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Tan Kin-keu Kindergarten, located on the ground floor of Kai Pik Court, has started classes in September 2020. The estate does not have a shopping mall or any shops, but there are several shopping malls nearby (including: Hai Ying Estate Ground Floor Shop, Hai Le Shopping Centre, West Kowloon Siu Lung Shopping Centre, Nanchang Station V Walk and Nanchang Plaza) to facilitate residents’ shopping.
The reserved land adjacent to Kai Ting Court will be used for the construction of a new building for Father Kwok Yi Ya Memorial School, which is expected to be completed in 2024.
Except for late night hours, public transport services directly to the main entrance of the estate throughout the day include NSB Route 701A (West Kowloon, Mong Kok), KMB Route 296C (Sham Shui Po, Mong Kok, Kowloon City, East Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O) and round trip to Lai Chi Kowloon Minibus Route 44 (before 15:45) / Kowloon Minibus Route 44A (after 15:45) at Corner.
Kai Lek Court is currently the southernmost and nearest seaside estate in Sham Shui Po, but it is relatively far from the main areas of Sham Shui Po, such as Lai Chi Kok Industrial and Trade Zone, the old area of Cheung Sha Wan and Sham Shui Po to 30 minutes walk to commute from the estate to the three places. In contrast, the estate is only a 4 to 8 minute walk from Nanchang Station. Due to road design, it would be slightly time-consuming and increase traffic pressure on Lai Ying Street if the existing public transport route bypassed Hai Ying Estate (Kai Lek Court) The pedestrian footbridge on Street West is about 10 to 15 minutes walk away, or the newly opened pedestrian footbridge connecting Hai Ying Estate and Hai Tak Estate (known as the “Century Bridge”) to Shen Mong Road or Hai Le Estate Bus Terminal of transportation route choices.
